ISKCON to celebrate Lord Krishna's birthday!


    The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will be celebrating the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival with fervor and pomp.

     The four-day celebrations beginning from tomorrow comprise spiritual discourse, a drama on the incarnations of Lord Krishna, rendition of mantras among other events that will be held at Sagar Nagar on city outskirts, said ISKCON president Samba Das.

     A special 'abhishek' will be conducted on the deity on August 10 and a show depicting various incarnations of the Lord will be showcased, he said, adding the idols will be decked up with natural flowers and artificial flowers being

imported from China for the occasion.

     A 'dahi handi' (curd-filled pitcher) will be broken by forming human pyramid to mark the Lord's incarnation on August 10.

     The Janmashtami festival will also be celebrated by 'Hare Krishna' movement at Vishwapriya function hall in the city over next three days, said president of 'Hare Krishna' movement N Bhakta Dasa.
